I fell in love with chickens in the third grade
when my classroom incubated and hatched baby chicks. It had been a dream of mine to own chickens ever since,
which was realized once my husband and I bought our own home. In the time leading up to getting chickens,
we learned as much as we could as fast as we could, but it took months, several books, talking to people and
even a few "how to" videos to find all the information we needed. While we loved the learning process,
we felt it shouldn't be so hard for everyone else. My Pet Chicken was born.
After having chickens of our own for a couple years, we wrote a basic chicken care guide, available for free for anyone who wants to read it.
We then invented our totally unique breed selector tool,
Which Chicken?, to help newcomers to the chicken world determine
which breeds are best suited to them. These are far and away the most popular areas of our website, and they've helped
tens of thousands of people feel comfortable making the decision to get chickens.
