Baby Chicks: Cuckoo Bluebar Blue-Egger

Loved our Bluebar, we got her as a chick this time last year. She started laying for a few weeks before she stopped for the winter. Unfortunately she disappeared one day, and then a couple days later our olive egger also disappeared. We get about 2 dozen eggs a week from our 4 chickens but wish we had some variety in our basket. Expecting 10 started pullets this week, unfortunately there were no blue bars available but we did order a cream legbar, an olive egger and an Easter egger, we should at least get 1 colored egg out of the bunch, hopefully 3.

Still small baby right now, so I can’t write a full review right now.

Uhg! She was expensive. Bought especially for the blue eggs only to find that we are the unlucky 16th family that is getting a slightly off white egg. She is pretty. But this is very disappointing and not the reason she was purchased. I won’t buy this breed again.

Only a week old it's hard to say how this beautiful chick will turn out.

These are some of my Favorite birds for the 'MPC Exclusives!' They lay large blue eggs, and look like blue creme legbars! They're active birds and in the middle of the flock for pecking order. They've done great in NC with hot summers that are very humid and winters with cold and ice, never had an issue with frost bite, and they dont get so hot in the summer they're standing under the fans not moving. Very good all around bird with blue eggs if you like variety in your flock! They're fun as little chicks, when the crest starts coming in on their baby fluff they have hilarious little mo-hawks! Got 15 babys in my recent order, (including 1 new Bluebar girl) everyone arrived in less than 24 hours, they were chirping and active, they're almost two weeks old and are happy and healthy! Will definitely order again.

I ordered 4 Cuckoo Bluebars & 4 Bountiful Blue Egg Layers born March 4th 2024. I received my first egg July 18th, 2024! I honestly don't know which breed layed at 19.5 weeks, but it is a beautiful blue egg. I love all of the chickens. The cuckoo bluebars are more cautious, but still friendly. Customer service at My Pet Chicken is good too.

She appears to be doing well. Very feisty.

I had two of these girls years ago and then went a good year without any in my flock and really missed their talkative and inquisitive personalities. My last girls both had puffy cheeks, and big puffy crests on their heads, they were so pretty and they laid HUGE blue eggs even in winter. I am very excited to add these pretty girls back to the flock. I got three of them and right out of the box they were fun. They traveled like seasoned champs, arrived spunky and curious. They were zipping around the brooder and the first ones to investigate not only the food and water but also the top of the heat plate. They're a few weeks old now and they're still curious and bold, they are the first to run up and investigate what I'm doing when I change bedding, or refill food. and they come right up to the hen pen door when I open it and stare at me and try to eat my watch or bracelets. One of them looks like she has a little crest which is fun, the and their shades of blue and cuckoo patterns are just different enough I can tell them apart right now. Excited to see them growup and share photos of them in a few months!

All eight (8) of my gals arrived happy and healthy! First, I’ll give a little information on when they shipped/how long it took/etc… for those nervous folks like me! They hatched in Ohio on a Monday and by 4:30 PM, I received notification they were in route. They then arrived in Cleveland around 7:30 PM. I anxiously waited and never got another notification until I got a call Wednesday morning from my local post office. They evidently shipped from Cleveland late Monday night, but it took about 30 hours to make it to my local post office (Galveston, TX which is an hour south of Houston). I was able to pick them up at 8:30 AM from the post office. The total time in transit was about 40 hours give or take. They are now one week old today, and all growing so fast. Wing feathers are developing nicely on all of them. They all eat like little oikers, and love to chase flies (a big problem on the Texas coast). I ordered one of each of a Silked White Easter Egger, Blue Splash Ameraucana, Lavender Dream Easter Egger, Blue/Black/Splash Orpington, Cuckoo Bluebar Blue-Egger, Golden Cuckoo Maran, Golden Laced Wyandotte, and an Olive Egger. The Silked and the Golden Maran both have feathers on their legs, so that is exciting for me! I am struggling telling the difference in a few of them. I know the Silked, the Golden Maran (she is brown and looks just like the photo), the Wyandotte (also looks just like the posted photo), and the Lavender Easter Egger. The Bluebar and the Olive Egger look almost identical, and the Blue Splash Ameraucana and Orpington are too similar for me to tell tight now. I’m super excited to watch as they grown to figure this mystery out! Personalities are developing, but the Golden Cuckoo Maran is EASILY the more inquisitive and friendly. She runs up to the edge of the pen every time I unzip the top (which by the way they HATE when I unzip and zip up that top of the pop-up brooder). She also will jump in my hand and try to walk up my arm. She is going to be fun! The Golden Laced Wyandotte and the Lavender Dream Easter Egger can’t stand her getting all the attention, so they then come up to visit me. One of either the Bluebar or the Olive Egger is also pretty friendly. The other one will not get anywhere near me! After reading reviews, it might be the Bluebar. The Silked White Easter Egger, and the Blue/Black/Splash Orpington eventually come over as they see the others having fun with “papa”.
