Description:
Cochins became famous in the 1800s when this Chinese breed was given as a gift to Queen Victoria of England, who absolutely adored them.
Cochins are known worldwide for being big friendly balls of fluff and feathers. They don't lay very well but are popular because of their sweet personality and fantastic mothering qualities.

Questions
Baby Chicks: White Cochin Female
Our white cochin boy, "Fat Fred" is a great rooster for our girls! He has a very nice personality for people and shares any treats with his girls. He is also quieter than our other roos. We bred him to our white Americana, and we got white fluff balls with beards. He grew to be quite large and appears to be overweight but it's all just feathers! All of our cochins are from "My Pet Chicken" and we are very pleased with their size, egg production and personalities

It’s so wonderful to hear about Fat Fred and how well he’s doing with your girls! His gentle personality and sharing nature sound like the perfect qualities for a rooster. The white fluff balls with beards must be adorable! We’re thrilled that your cochins from My Pet Chicken have been such a great addition to your flock, with impressive size, egg production, and delightful personalities. Thanks for sharing your experience with us!

Chicks were fine
The trip thru the mail was not so good. Two were doa and the others died due to heat plate not being warm enough.

I got the money back no questions asked from MPC when I wrote them about my white Cochin crowing one day! I felt sad because I had to get rid of him but he was so friendly and beautiful!

Baby Chicks: White Cochin Female
I got five chick from MPC all came well and healthy. I have experienced no illness or any of that. I didn't even notice the ugly stage they were supposed to go through while transitioning from into teenagers. I got a which Cochin, Plymouth barred rock, rhode island red, silver laced Wyandotte, and Buff orpington. Buffy turned out to be a boy though. Just found out yesterday. Soooo my white cochin, who is supposed to be the lap chicken and such, was pecking me from the time she arrived. She still pecks me every chance she gets. She looks me right in the eye and goes for my fingers:-} She is the only one that escapes and runs for her life and she eats earth worms. (the others won't touch them). I supposed she has lots of personality but I cant take the pecks. As beautiful as she is, She goes when my beautiful Buffy goes. I am not allowed to have roos. What happened to my COCHIN. I don't know if I want to take a chance and buy another. Thanks to the folks at MPC, my experience has been awesome. My girls and guy are doing great.

Baby Chicks: White Cochin Female
My 5yr old (going on 6!) cochin hen is from here. She is a house chicken, my first chicken, who I raised as a single chick so she got constant attention. She didn't need that to be tame and friendly though! She was from the moment I met her. Super loving, smart, very cat-like bird. She's happiest sitting in a lap. She only laid eggs for the first 2yrs and laid maybe a handful in her 3rd. During that time she went broody pretty much once a month. She was an amazing mother to her adopted daughters the only time we let her set and they needed to be taken from her eventually since she was still trying to care for them by the time they were getting ready to lay eggs themselves! For such a sweetheart I wouldn't worry about her holding her own in the outdoor flock, I'm pretty sure she'd throw down with an ostrich and win with how jealous over treats she gets. The only downsides are the booted feet (even indoors she has gotten bumblefoot once) and poor heat tolerance. If you aren't going to be keeping them in a muddy run or extreme heat and you want a great pet here's your breed.

Baby Chicks: White Cochin Female
This is the second time I have ordered from MyPetChicken. My white cochin is SO beautiful, docile and cuddly and very healthy. She goes broody a LOT, so we have to keep taking her out of the nest until she stops (we only have hens, so no need for a broody). She is the only cochin and the only white bird we have (in a flock of 9), and gets along with all of them. We love our cochin, "Alaska", and I'm sure everyone else will love these cochins too! -Carla
