Description:
Muscovy are excellent ducks for the average backyard flock. They can also fly quite well which enables them to better escape predators. As they are a flying duck, they will often perch in trees, though their nests are always on the ground. In addition, they are excellent foragers, eating larger amounts of grass than other types of domestic ducks. They are also calmer and quieter (no loud Quack like other female ducks) than other ducks. This makes them a great choice if you have a smaller backyard and are worried about the noise your neighbors will hear.
Muscovy females normally start laying later in the spring than other ducks. There is no breed of duck that does a better job of hatching and raising their young. Muscovy, especially the males, are very strong and it is best to use gloves when handling them because of their sharp nails. They do not try to attack you as a rooster might, but you can be accidentally scratched.
They are genetically different from all other breeds of domestic duck (which all originate from the wild Mallard duck). If you cross a Muscovy and any other domestic breed of duck, the progeny are infertile and cannot reproduce.
Muscovy ducklings require extra care in shipping. We will only be shipping the most recently hatched ducklings and will provide them with double the GroGel we normally include.

Ducklings: White Muscovy
I ordered 3 ducks but sadly one died during shipping. However, the surviving ducks are healthy and playful. MPC was quick to credit me for the duck that did not make it. MPC has great customer service and I will order from they again.

We were sad to hear one of your ducklings did not make it. We place great value on the lives of the baby birds we hatch and sell, and do our best to make sure our customers are taken care of. That is why our 48 hour live arrival guarantee is in place. It is also great to know your other ducklings are doing well!

Ducklings: White Muscovy
Bought a silver Appleyard along with my White Muscovy about almost a year ago. They hatched the week of July 5th of 2022. I bought them mainly because we wanted to put them under our lonely broody Black Muscovy Duck who’d been sitting on her infertile eggs while our chickens had their own chicks. She knew right away that those weren’t from her eggs and was not accepting at all. But she was very nice to them growing up after we broke her broodiness, basically being a big sister. Surprisingly these two ducklings grew up quite fast comparing to our older Muscovy. Ours didn’t get her red face until 4-6 months. This one started having red in her face in less than 2, and both ducklings were already bigger than her in one month. So I was worried we had a male. But we didn’t so that’s good. I have chickens too so I didn’t wanna deal with the horror stories of male ducks mating with chickens. Anyways! Great flyer with my black Muscovy and stays inside the backyard and is quiet and loves bathing in the kiddie pool we have. Wish we had more land and a pond but not this time around. They still love it. Especially on hot summer days currently, they bathe 2-3 times a day. Usually Muscovy’s don’t need water like other ducks but I think they still would prefer it available. Thanks for the ducks and hopefully you get more variety of Muscovy colors because they’re very pretty and quiet ducks.
