Description:
Dominiques are considered a "heritage" breed of chicken in that they've been around for hundreds of years and are now critically endangered. Some people can't tell the difference between a Dominique and a Barred Rock, but the trained eye will notice that Dominiques have a rose comb versus the Barred Rock's single comb. Dominiques are a wonderfully cold-hardy dual-purpose bird, and hens make very caring, nurturing mothers.

I purchased Dominiques back in June. They are lovely and quirky birds that my family have fallen in love with. They are beautiful and really enjoy free ranging in our yard. We are excited for them to start laying eggs in a few months but in the meantime, they have been incredible pets. They peck at my Mom's door on the lower level daily (at around 3 PM) for some snacks and will run up to say hi to me and my husband whenever we are outside. They don't enjoy being held and tolerate me petting them, but generally love being around us and my children.

Of the two ordered one clearly has wing deformities and is not growing or thriving the same as the second one. After a week it has hardly grown and is half the size. While have to move normally it is clearly stunted and doubt it will live a very long life if it makes it to adulthood.

I ordered 15 chicks. Unfortunately one of the chicks died the first day I had them in brooder. All others are doing well. They are growing

She is a lot smaller than the other chicks and she's had problems with pasty butt x3, but has handled the warm baths, gently pat drying and under a separate warmer bouncing back well. She is joining the other girls regularly now and has claimed the wooden block as her high ground!
