Available in three sizes to choose from as a DIY kit. Includes easy-to-assemble materials and instructions; this jungle gym was designed and made by one of our very own customers using high-quality materials. (The DIY kit is easy to assemble and makes a great project for a child and grownup to collaborate on. You only need a Phillips screwdriver!)
The Chick Jungle Gym is designed to encourage chickens' natural instinct to roost. Recommended for chicks one week to eight weeks old, the holes in the side offer extra roosting space and a way to "escape" should they stumble or fall underneath. We found some of our chicks really like to hop through and sleep in those holes, too. And if you have a chick getting bullied, the Chick Jungle Gym may give her a great way to hide from the aggressor!
Position your Chick Jungle Gym far enough away from your heat source that you don't have to worry about it overheating (and always use safer heaters like these), and also far enough away from your brooder walls that chicks can easily get around it. Play around with positioning for maximum comfort and enjoyment of your brood.
Measures approximately:
Small - 15 1/2" L x 11" W x 5 1/4" HMedium - 7 1/2" h x 14" w x 12" deep when fully assembled
Large - 16" L x 13 1/2" W x 9" H when fully assembled.

Chicks were afraid at first but then they would hop on it and fly off. Great excerise and fun.

My chicks loved their gym, though they didn't use it to roost until right before they moved to the coop. I purchased the medium, which was much bigger than I expected. It was worth it, though, as it gave the girls plenty of room to run around it and practice flying.

The first Chick Jungle Gym I ordered was the small one with the polywhey. The baby chicks loved it, but I could see that they would quickly outgrow it, so ordered the large size a few days later. It took up a lot of room in the brooder, but the chicks loved it even more. Word of caution. They liked "flying" off of the top rung! Was glad when they went outside where they used it through their 7th week. The polywhey is not noticeable, but definitely makes cleaning easier.

I was super disappointed with the small jungle gym. I could have made something like this for a few bucks, in about 10 minutes. I love My Pet Chicken and think they are an amazing company, so this is not a criticism against them at all. I just don't think this particular item is worth the money.

We completely understand that many of our customers could manage this project very easily. However, we cater to a growing group of new chicken keepers who may not have any DIY skills or may not have the time or inclination to build it themselves. The jungle gym is also American made and we are trying to carry more products sourced from American companies.

I bought a small and a large Jungle Gym. The chicks never had interest in the small one, but they loved the large Jungle Gym from nearly the start. One of the Blue Favaucanas figured out how to flutter-hop and reach the top at less than two weeks, she balanced on the top rail - her little feet were too small to get a grip. I also caught a gorgeous picture of the Blue Cuckoo Maran spresding her wings to steady herself on the next-to-top rail. They went in the middle when young, it would have been nice to have one of the ground level holes larger to accomodate fast chickie growth. I've moved it from the edge of the pop-up brooder to the middle as they got older. Now at five weeks they love running the periphery like a dodo bird in a caucus race. They also love cutting through the center by "climbing" the rods like stairs, or flying to the top. They do not use it for roosting at night, though. They like to crowd together by the brooder door to sleep. Window down to the ground, and exciting dreams of chickie escape.

Easy to put together. At just a few days old, my chicks loved going in and out of the circles. After a week they started hoping onto the bars. At 5 week now and they love to roost on it!
