Description:
Sultans are at the very height of ornamental oddity in the chicken world. Not only do they have a froofy cascade of feathers on top of their head but they have a v-shaped comb, muffs, a beard, five toes instead of the usual four--and they're even feather-footed! In fact, they look something like a cockatiel on steroids, and if you don't tell your friends that your bird is a type of chicken, they may never guess it on their own.
Sultans have been chic in the poultry world ever since the sultans of Ottoman Empire kept them in their gardens. They are wonderful for show, because their "attire" is so impressive and outlandish. They're also very calm birds--on the show floor this translates to "easier for poultry judges to handle."

Baby Chicks: White Sultan Female
I took a chance and ordered chicks last August to be shipped to Texas because of limited availability. My little Sultan was so tiny, I was worried, but she made it. She is still small (bantam size), but she is laying the cutest tiny white eggs four or five times a week. She has the sweetest personality and always comes to me to be picked up. ZsaZsa has to be my favorite hen ever!

Lilo is probably the quirkiest bird I have ever had. I waited years to get one and MPC Finally had a few available last spring. I ordered two hens and a Roo but ended up getting two Roos so I had to sell them . Lilo is beautiful but not the brightest hen in the flock . I would not let her free range unsupervised. Her large fro definitely limits her vision and Her heavily feathered Hocks also appear to hinder her ability to run... this chicken can’t run, she only skips . It’s the funniest thing I’ve ever seen. I love her to death but I would not recommend this breed for a large flock . They are very high maintenance and the bright white fro and feet are difficult to manage. If you can dedicate the time to their grooming upkeep than go for it !

I ordered 4 chicks, 3 Silkies and one Sultan. On Monday evening around 6:00 pm I received notice that the chicks had shipped, and my post office called me at 9:00 a.m. the next morning to let me know they’d arrived. The chicks were all in terrific shape! Three days later they are healthy and happy little puff balls of joy! My Sultan cracks me up! She jumps on her adopted mom’s back and runs all about. Such a personality!

Miss Leelee Capri is such a hysterical chicken to watch, she's fairly friendly, and will eat out of my hand. So pretty too! She seems to be able to see better than the polish we ordered with her too

I ordered 3 Sultans along with some other birds. I really do like their personality the best so far. Not too bossy, high strung, or low on the pecking order. They seem to go with the flow and keep under the radar which is great when we introduced them to our older girls at 4 months. Flo, Lala, and Lola are friendly and absolutely beautiful! Very happy with our purchase :)

Received my little Sultan, along with 3 other birds, in mid-June. I've heard the Sultans can be a bit delicate, but mine is thriving. All 4 birds arrived in good shape. We're at 4 weeks now and everybody is healthy and happy. I ordered from My Pet Chicken when I first started with chickens, about 8 years ago. 2 orders back then were also healthy. I still have 2 birds from my first order running around. They also successfully sexed all of my bantams with 100% accuracy. Great company, great customer service, and nice birds.

We love our two beautiful, sweet white Sultans. We get about 3 medium sized white eggs a week from each hen. They are not too smart and not very high on the pecking order,but their sweetness and beauty trumps brains.

My Sultan, and every other bird I've ever received from MPC has arrived alive, healthy and beautiful, and sexed properly. I live in the hot Phoenix, AZ area and have had birds shipped in July and August without issues. This particular bird was hatched 7/4/17 I named her Liberty. She is now 12 weeks old and is just as sweet as can be and is a great representation of a white sultan.

Not sure why the reviewer "Elena E." decided to give the White Sultans a 1-star review. She should have had an adult handle the shipping. She should have overnighted (one-day shipping) the package if she was not willing to gamble. She had chicks die in transit. That happens. You are shipping tiny chicks (at their weakest period in their lives) across the country. Grow up.
Anyhow, I'll give you my experience:
Of the White Sultans I ordered, one perished within 36 hours of arrival. They might be weaker than other breeds. Other people should share their experience. My White Sultan, Charlie, was the nicest little fella. She liked to be held. She never complained or caused any disturbance. My experience has been OUTSTANDING. The White Sultan is exactly what it is supposed to be, a nice, ornamental bird. I wish that they had not been sold out for my last order! AAARRRRGH! 5/5 bird!
