Description:
Grit is important for any chickens fed scratch or allowed to range freely. Chickens don't have teeth, and they store little rocks in their "crop", which is where food goes before it enters their stomach. The rocks allow them to break down their food. Without it, your birds will develop digestive issues.
This grit is insoluble, crushed granite. If your chickens don't have access to fresh pasture or if the ground is frozen, grit is a "must" to keep them healthy. Offer it by free choice, and don't worry – they won't overdo it.
- Helps with proper digestion
- Designed to be fed with coarse grains
- For all classes of poultry
Directions: sprinkle in with your flock's feed; sprinkle on the ground; or provide it free choice in a container like this. Our flock devours the fine/chick grit, too!
Please Note: This product has surpassed the printed expiration date and has been discounted to reflect that. The expiration date applies due to the added probiotics, which are unnecessary in a grit product. The crushed granite does not degrade over time and will still work as intended.
We cannot accept returns on this product due to health and safety concerns.

Poultry Grit with ProBiotics, 5lb bag
This grit has been perfect for my hens. The size of the individual grit pieces was slightly larger than I expected but my chickens seem to enjoy it. They scratch in and eat it without any hesitation. I would buy it again.

Poultry Grit with ProBiotics, 5lb bag
New to chickens, I was delighted to get our first egg in July from the 6-week old Orpingtons we ordered from MyPetChickens to arrive early April. I have not figured out the grit, yet. I just throw some out every time I move the coop. They free-range during day in our sandy loam east Texas soil so they may not need grit, but I started offering it once they got a bit older. This grit is very nice - really nice. I bought from from our local feed store and just opened it - huge chunks that make me worry so I just ordered more of this grit - will be my go-to. This is high quality - not knowing much about chickens, I can say that my ladies are very healthy and very happy so the grit much be sufficient. Enjoy the chickens (they RUN to me when I approach!) and WHAT GREAT EGGS!

Poultry Grit with ProBiotics, 5lb bag
The hens need grit. Why not throw in some probiotics while we're at it. My chickens don't go through this very fast so a 5lb bag for 5 chickens lasts about 10 months.

Everything was great from website search to purchase of product. I just fee that the actual pieces were too large.

Poultry Grit with ProBiotics, 5lb bag
Being a new chicken lady, I didn't realize when you free range chickens you probably don't need additional poultry grit. However, I mix with treats and put in coop anyway. My eggs have been nice and firm. So I think it's okay!!
